We practice on the ice on Tuesdays at 7:00pm and Sundays at 6:55pm at the Northbrook Sports Center. We also have Long Track practices on the Long Track Oval at the Pettit National Ice Center, as well as High Performance Short Track sessions at the Glenview Community Ice Center and the Pettit National Ice Center for skaters who are ready to take their skill to the next level.
Part of the excitement about being part of NBSSC is that newer skaters share ice time with more advanced skaters, which helps newer skaters to improve their skills more quickly. There are Learn to Speedskate classes taught year-round at both the Northbrook Park District and the Glenview Park District for introductory lessons in basic speedskating form and technique, to which all are welcome to attend. One of the best things about speedskating is that the whole family can skate together, from age 4 to 104!
The typical speedskating season lasts from September to March. We also offer spring and summer training programs both on and off the ice.
Absolutely! NBSSC has a long history of including adult members. Speedskating is a great way to stay in shape, cross train for other sports, or simply enjoy the camaraderie of the skating community. Adult members are able to compete at meets in Masters divisions.
We have new members joining throughout the season, so there is no need to wait! Contact us and we'll help you to get started.
