Founded in 1952 by Ed Rudolph, Northbrook Speed Skating Club has been nationally respected not only for its standard of excellence in coaching, but also for the welcoming family-style experience and collegial atmosphere it provides. At 91 medals and counting, US Speedskating has won more medals than any other Winter Olympic sport. The US Speedskating team has included at least one skater from Northbrook at every Winter Olympics for over 70 years. NBSSC is proud to be a member Club of US Speedskating. Each year over President's Day Weekend we host the NorthBurke Short Track Open, a US Speedskating-sanctioned competition event open to skaters of all ages and levels of ability.
Northbrook Speed Skating Club is run by a dedicated group of parents, coaches, and volunteers.
Our programs teach Speedskating to skaters of all ages and levels of ability, from Learn to Speedskate classes all the way through national level competition in both Short Track and Long Track Speedskating.
